1 patient still has the right to make choices if able and to be treated with dignity and respect.Always provide quality care with a positive attitude.
Be sure to help promote independence and self-help skills such as self-feeding. Some areas that should be observed are socialization skills, verbal skills, activities of daily living, preventative health, nutrition, and behaviors.
Teach and encourage parents to show the child socially acceptable behaviors such as waving goodbye, saying hello, responding to their name, and greeting visit visitors.
Recreational activities are also important.
2 Assess the type of auditory, visual, motor, or intellectual deficit.
Facilitate activities in using fine and gross motor skills
Perform range-of-motion exercises every 4 hours for the child unable to move body parts.
Educate the family on how to use an orthotic device as indicated
3 Keep voice in a low manner and speak slowly as much as possible.
Keep environment calm, quiet and as free of stimuli as possible.
Use clear or simple words, and keep directions simple as well.
Use simple, concrete, and literal explanations.
