2. How will Covid-19 affect the budget?
3. Will the budget be stopped, continued, or decreased? If so, how will these affect the housing?
(Focus your arguments between the budget and student housing and how is one affected by the other.)
Also, your questions need to reveal the impact on student housing or its effect on the students. Data obtained from the questionnaire must be able to show the impact on student housing which will support your arguments.
Your questionnaire should be able to answer your research question: What impact did the Covid-19 pandemic have on HBCUs housing budget?
Many institutions of higher
education that will sustain financial hits as a result of the
pandemic. Historically Black Collages and Universities (HBCU) are
likely to get hit especially, many HBCU's worried about cost of
managing online classes. These are getting into financial
trouble, nearly impossible to recruit students. All the colleges
have been hurt by Corona virus and face uncertainities. Many
colleges depends upon enrollment , now it is very difficult for a
prolonged dip in enrollment. Students who returned home after
campus had closed to find they no longer had a place to live. It
came health complications. HBCU are mobility drivers. They produce
forty two percentage (42%) of black engineers, eighty percentage
(80%) of its black judges and forty percentage (40%) of its African
American members of congress. When colleges sent students home
during the pandemic, many refunded payments for room and board.
These colleges are the pillars of black education such as Alabama
University, Howard University and Wiley colleges. These students,
lost their academic homes, unable to work and support themselves and
their families. How can students focus on returning school when
they must worry about economic survival and making ends meet?? It
has also caused emotional and mental trauma for many HBCU students
asking administrators
These questions
1.How do they recover?
2.How can they handle the situation from the students
perspective?
Many campuses could have a bigger negative impact and worried about technology demands on HBCU. It is hard to pay off debt for new students housing and education. The Federal Government should support these collages. HBCU's rely a lot on tutions and smaller endowments than others if it get into financial troubles the risk loosing their acceredition without which impossible to recruit the students. This leads to disruptions in enrollment and fund raising. The absence of students in residential on - campus housing could constitute the seviour revenue shock, an extreme example is the case of Bethune Cookman. HBCUs are similar to families without substantial savings. Any drop in enrollment , the way of students not returning next year or are not enrolling next year will be devastating. These schools have long struggled for sufficient resources despite being an important part of higher education. It also worries about many students not having acces to Wi-Fi or laptops so it is a challenging one to deliver online classes.
It affected the budget for most of the part now the donars and foundations cant afford to give in the ways that the collages require. They are financially disabled, infrastructural issues could have serious affect upon the colleges. The New York times mentioned an article and published that "when American catch cold , African Americans catch the flu..These collages lodt revenue fro food services, might see worse affects because they have less money to begin with.Whwn institutions have a long history of being underfunded, they can't build the same foundations as those that do.Many colleges are closing so that HBCUs are in danger. But here what degree of impact will be felt is a difficult question..These institutions are depending on the revenue from sport, federal research grants, licensing. Many familoies are looking down the family budget. Many colleges are implemented the cost cuts, tightening expenditure. At the moment, much uncertain, but unless a vaccine becomes available in the near future..
