Form fits function. Give three good examples (a, b, c as
specified below) of how the form or structure of a component fits
its function in the cell. Clearly state the name and function of
your chosen component and explain how form and function are
related.
a) Must be a small molecule or coenzyme:
b) Must be a protein:
c) Must be a multi-subunit macromolecular complex or organelle:
A. One of the coenzymes are electron transport coenzymes where the coenzymes fit in Electron transport chain for example riboflavin where, this helps in production of ATP from FADH2.
B. Protein function is useful in cell where it codes for DNA present in the cell.for example microtubule is a cytoskeleton made up of tubulin proteins. That is alpha and beta tubulins.where these microtubules help to provide strength to cell, and spindel fibre formation in mitosis and meiosis.
C. Mitochondria is an organalle in a cell present in cytoplasm. Where the function of mitochondria is the production of the ATP for growth from cellular metabolism ,Like Krebs cycle where NADH+and FADH2 are produced which are used to convert into ATP in mitochondria bt electron transport chain . where it takes place by formation of proton gradient by the enzyme ATP synthase. These process takes place in innermitochindrial matrix. Beta oxidation also takes place where the stored fatty acid is broken down in fasting condition for ATP production.
