Describe the three main concerns of genetic engineering? According to the textbook, what was the did the program implemented by the Indian health Service do between 1972 and 1976?
as the genetic engineering is being increased significantly in
recent years, it brings consequences also and these are the major
concerns of genetic engineering. main concern are as follows
:
1 ethical
issue consisting social concern(blending of animal
and human DNA), extrinsic concern(health risk associated with
transgenics , chimeras and genetically modified food), intrinsic
concern(consequences of blurring species boundaries because this is
unnatural, immoral and violation of god's law).
2 poisoned wildlife; knocking in of foreign genes to plants can cause serious consequences for wildlife in number of cases. plants that are engineered to produce plastic and pharmaceuticals could endanger the organism who consume the crop.
3 antibiotic resistance: antibiotic resisitance gene in genetic engineered food can haveharmful effects and effectiveness of antibiotics is reduced to fight disease when these natibiotics are consumed with meal. and the enzymes produced by the resistance genes can degrade antibiotics present in stomach.
the program which implemented by the indian health service during 1972 to 1976 was indian health service policy of sterilization
