Contact the state representative for HIE(Health information exchange)), what can you do as a MSN to be part of improving the HIE and look for successful examples of HIE in your state. Electronic health information exchange (HIE) allow doctors and nurses, pharmacists, other health care providers and patients appropriately access share patients vital medical information electronically – improving the speed, quality, safety and cast of patient care.

Despite the wide spread of availability of secure electronic data transfer , most Americans medical information is stored on paper- in filling cabinets at various medical offices, or in boxes and folders in patient homes. When medical information is shared between providers, its happen by mail, fax or most likely from patient themselves

  • Improve diagnosis
  • To treat condition early before its get effecting patient

  2. Query based Exchange
  3. Consumer Mediated Exchange

MSN role in Health information Exchange:

Exchange Key clinical information:
