The Southerners believed they were more humane to slaves since they would provide them "housing, feeding, and clothing" from cradle to grave, but Northerners "only employed people during their working years". How might this mentality be analogous to today's political discussions regarding the role of the federal government in the daily lives of Americans?

The role of federal government in the life of American people is very important. Because the government is providing somany aids for the wellbeing of its citizens. We know that themployees plays a significant role in the growth and development of the country. The social security payments by the governemnt of America help million Americans. Like that if a person is working and if he become unable to do work the Social Security disability provides benafits to that person. Medicare provides government health care for senior citizens. Food stamps protect families facing harships by helping them for buying food which they need for good health. OSHA regulations and inspections protect Americas working people by limiting exposure to toxic chemicals. Government ensures basic pay to the employees through the federal minimum wage law. The Small Business Administration helps American people to start, grow and build businesses.

It is very necessary to spent time with our family eventhough we have job. For that The Family and Medical Leave Act provides the right to take time off for the employees from work to care for asick child or parent without losing the job. In many countries there is discrimination to employement. For eliminating this discrimination, in America there is federal law. It will prohibits employement discrimination on the basis of age, race, dender, colour, religion, disability etc. The government is giving higher importance for education. The government want to invest an entire infrastructure of child development from the pregnancy to all school levels. Because they are the future of the country. Government provides public education facilities for every child. College loan programmes help those students who are not able to afford higher education.

Government is also giving importance for providing good helth and quality medical facilities. Inspection of meat, dairy and food protects against contamination and diseases. School lunch regulations mandate nutritious meals. Military doctors eliminated diseases like typhoid and yellow fever. Like that in every year, The U.S Food and Drug Administration approves new medicines.Public water system provides pure and safe drinking water based on standards set by the EPA. Scientists at the National Institute of Health set a new course for developing ways to diagnose and treat diseases like cancer, Parkinsons Disease and Alzhimers Disease. Like that the National Cancer Institute has made many discoveries in the treatment of the disease.

It is the responsibility of every government to provide safety and protection to its people from violence, attacks, wars etc.. Governments are working for the well being of the people. It will provides rights for its citizens. Government make special policies for helping poor and old people. Unemployment and poverty is the main problems facing by the people of a country. Government can provide employment opportunities to the people. like that government will provide goods and services to individuals that cannot provide individually to themselves. Government provides basic infrastructure facilities like roads, bridges, railways etc. for the public. If the government of a country stands for its people, definetily the standard of living of the people will grow.
