The public health in UK work day and night to protect and improve nation’s health and reduce health inequalities. They are guided by number of aims:
Threats from infectious outbreaks and environmental hazards remain a major issue in UK. The government works hard to prevent risk from materialising and reduce harm when they do.
The UK government aims to work in order to prevent poor health. It aim people to live longer and to remain work for longer and when unwell, to stay in their own home for longer.
The government work to narrow the health gap. Some conditions take a disproportionate toll on minor communities. Reduction in the avoidable inequality in health outcome is the main goal.
A good health is a n asset to UK economy. Securing the health of people is UK investment in the economic future.
There are some major health concerns in UK.
Heart disease: more than a quarter of death occur as a result of coronary heart diseases. Smoking, over weight and high blood pressure is the major risk factors.
Respiratory diseases: Asthma and COPD are the main ones. England have the highest rate of repiratory disease in the world. Infectious disease affecting the respiratory system is also a major concern.
Cancer: It has become a common disease in UK. According to Cancer Research UK, says part of the problem is unhealthy lifestyle.
