Hal Crisp is a 19-year-old young man who likes to dress up in women’s clothes and go clubbing. His parents disapprove of this, not only because they are embarrassed that Hal is a cross-dresser, but because they think that the ecstasy and other drugs at the clubs are dangerous. Hal says that he goes clubbing because that’s the only place he feels accepted. He says he certainly does not feel accepted by his family.
1.) How would you approach this client as an addiction counselor? 2.) Do you think Hal is at risk for addiction? 3.)What special considerations would you keep in mind given this client’s sexual orientation?
As an addiction counselor i wil try to find the cause behind his addiction here the reason i found is denial of his sexual oriention by his parents leads to his addiction.if he is addicted then we have to choose proper detox methods to reduce his physical and mental effects.
In his situvation the first thing to do is fixing the problem associated with his sexual orientation. non acceptance from his family members for his sexual orentation is what forcing him to go more into clubbing. because thier he feel accepted for his identity by his friends. at the same time he is expecting a warm acceptance from his family members for his sexual orientation which he enjoy. first we have to take him and his parents for a counseling regarding his orinentation. but if he continue go clubbing he is at risk of addiction as well. so the counselor has to address his problem of orientation as well as his addiction to clubbing.
