Here I am mentioning about a one cultural beliefs of infant care. They strongly believe in evil eye. It means by the admiring look of others their infant health will be declined. That is called evil eye.So many mothers have an idea of this evil eye while checking baby weight. They think others will admire at their child good weight and health thus the baby gets ill health by evil eye.so often they refused to check weight in front of others. So the nurse can give a confidential practice in this aspect. The nurse can check weight only in the presence of mother.
For fever they believe it is due to the evil spirit attack to the child so they go to their temples or some other place and tie a prayed and holy things on infant body to get rid from the evil spirit attack. So nurses should give to their beliefs we should not judge that behavior or argue to avoid those beliefs.
They apply khol or kajal on infant cheek to avoid evil eye.
These are some practices and beliefs in some cultural groups. Nurses before planning a care should know about their cultural beliefs according to that she should deliver the care and also health education should be provided according to their needs of the particular cultural group.
