Molecular genetics can be useful in providing zero hunger goal of UN sustainable development. It helps in breeding process. It is now believed that breeding is vey necessary for development of new crops , livestocks and higher yielding plants which are drough tolerant, disease resistant and adapted to different environment.

Many of livelihood depends upon agricultural sources for their food and hence we can alter the genetic makeup of agricultural products to produce desired characteristic of seeds, cultivar plants etc.

Molecular genetics can be applied through many different methods , some are given below:

• Crossing and selection ( parental individual cross bred with desired one and product will be used for to produce next generation)
• Hybrid breeding ( two genetically different species cross bred with each other)
• Cell and tissue culture technique ( entire individual are produced inside the labs).
• Genome editing
• Marker technology and genomic selection ( molecular markers are used to analyse individuals).

Through genetic engineering and molecular genetics we can alter the genetic diversity of the crops, nutrients, hence zero hunger goal will be achieved as everyone of the individuals get the adequate diet full of desired nutrients and minerals.
