The wings of a bat and the wings of a bird look very similar, however, the bat’s wings are more similar to the forelimbs of cats. This tells us that:
A) The bat and the bird share a very recent ancestor.
B) Wings are a homologous feature of bats and birds.
C) Wings probably evolved due to similar environmental challenges but bats are more closely related to cats than birds.
D) Cats have wings.
The wings of a bat and the wings of a bird look very similar, however, the bat’s wings are more similar to the forelimbs of cats. This tells us that :
A. The bat and bird share a very recent ancestor
Explanation:
Though the bird's wing and bats wing look similar, bat's wing and the fore limb of cat is don't look similar but the bat's wing and cat's limb is originally and anatomically close to each other and the bat's wing and bird's wing looking very similar, functionally almost equal due to their aduptation for survive. The most compelling evidence supporting the common ancestry of species is that of similar structural elements across functionally diverse forms. It becomes evident from comparative anatomy.
. we find same bones in many different types of organism, but this bones are often modified to do different things for their survive purpose with according their habitat also. Therefore the bat’s wing and cat’s forelimb inherited from a common ancestral stock and have inherited a basic anatomical structure. Which later became adupted for different habits and habitat. Cat bat’s forelimb modified into wings for flying with highly modified metacarpals and phalanges. The foe limb of cat is used for walking ,running with clawed digital. We call this type structure like bat’s wing and cat’s forelimb is homologus structure.
Bird’s wing and bat’s wing look similar but anatomically wings are different, these are analogus organ as they are functionally similar, analogus are result of convergent evolution .Although they share very recent ancestor on the basis of forelimbs,as they inherit forelimb from a common ancestor
