McKay was a Jamaican writer and poet. He took birth in the year 1889. He died in the year 1948. In the year 1922 he wrote a collection of poem named as Harlem Shadows. His main theme of writings used to be social justice.
He was considered as the "first voice of Harlem Renaissance". It took place in the year 1920. It was also known as the "New Negro Movement". Harlem Renaissance is known as the time period in which African American writers used to express their views about social injustice through their writings and several other creations.
He protested social evils. He was with the rights of black people. He was against those evils which were degrading the lives of black people. McKay was very good performer in academics. He was married to Eulalie. She was her childhood love.
McKay called America an energetic place to live but with some textures of cruelty. He compared America's energy to the the forceful flow of tides. McKay made several points against America but he loved it very much. It was a home for him.
