Green marketing is that the marketing of environmentally friendly products and services. it's becoming more popular as more people become concerned with environmental issues and choose that they require to spend their money in a very way that's kinder to the earth.

Green marketing can involve variety of various things, like creating an eco-friendly product, using eco-friendly packaging, adopting sustainable business practices, or focusing marketing efforts on messages that communicate a product’s green benefits.

This type of selling will be dearer, but it may be profitable because of the increasing demand. as an example, products made locally in North America tend to be costlier than those made overseas using cheap labor, but they need a far smaller carbon footprint because they don’t need to fly across the world to induce here. for a few consumers and business owners, the environmental benefit outweighs the value difference.

LOHAS
Consumers preferring to get green products while they could be costlier constitute the ‘LOHAS’ category. LOHAS stands for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability. in line with Wikipedia:

“LOHAS describes an integrated, rapidly growing marketplace for goods and services that appeal to consumers whose sense of environmental and social responsibility influences their purchase decisions.”

These consumers are active supporters of environmental health and are the heaviest purchasers of green and socially responsible products. They even have the ability to influence other consumers.

Green Marketing Methods
Beyond making an environmentally friendly product, business owners can do other things as a part of their green marketing efforts. the subsequent can all be a part of a green marketing strategy:

Using eco-friendly paper and inks for print marketing materials
Skipping the printed materials altogether and option for electronic marketing
Having a recycling program and responsible waste disposal practices
Using eco-friendly product packaging
Using efficient packing and shipping methods
Using eco-friendly power sources
Taking steps to offset environmental impact
“Greenwashing”
Some marketers attempt to exploit the growing number of green consumers by simply taking a green marketing approach to products which may not preferably be considered green. they struggle to position their products as a far better choice for the environment when they’re really not. An example of this is often when a corporation uses the colour green in their packaging, or the word green somewhere in their messaging, when there isn’t anything particularly eco-friendly about their product, nor it’s less eco-friendly than competing products. Greenwashing isn't only misleading, but it also can be damaging to a company’s reputation.

If consumers want to be sure they're indeed buying a green product, they ought to search for official certifications listed on the merchandise packaging.
