1) I choose clinical lab science as my career for a few reasons. The coursework looked interesting, and graduates could look forward to almost guarantee employment in a field known for competitive hourly rates and great benefits. In addition, this field is more challenging.
2) The qualities/characters I posses to be a successful clinical laboratory scientist are: I am good in science and can troubleshoot, I can handle shift work, I can work well alone within a group environment, I genuinely care about patient care, I can survive on little to no recognition.
3) A clinical laboratory scientist in healthcare performs a very wide range of testing, depending on the department I am assigned to. This could involve identifying microorganisms, running complex chemical analyzers, examining blood cells with a microscope or scanning a specimen for crystal formations. These are the few of the many skills that a clinical lab scientist uses on the job. Versatility is a lab scientist’s best friend. In addition, I should be very gentle with the patients and colleagues.
