( My) recent Healthcare Encounter:
The term Health care refers to the prevention, treatment and management of illness or the preservation of Mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the Medical , nursing and allied health services .( I ) had a recent encounter with a healthcare organisation in the month of January, 2020. (I was) suffering with cold and slight fever for two days. As the internal exams were nearing i had a fear whether ( I) might miss the exams due to fever, i decided to srek the Medical care in a nearby healthcare setting. Due to late woke up i missed my breakfast on the particular day of hospital visit and it caused slight gastritis and stomach pain.
I took an appointment with the General physician by calling to the reception of the Outpatient Department ( OPD) reception, and registered the name and address. As per the scheduled time i went for the consultation, there i again another staff in the front office of the General physician asked for the name and details. But they welcomed very cheerfully with a smile and the waiting launch was very good with all the facilities. Before the consultation one of the nursing staff collected some of the history of present illness and checked the vital signs. Upon the consultation physician asked me about the gastritis and duration of fever. I told him that the symptoms were mild. As my Blood pressure was slightly low, they told me to get admitted but I was reluctant to that. Then the nurse told me that there are a number of tests wrtten by the physician and they are suspecting the chances of typhoid fever.
I got admitted and the drawn 2 blood samples and even started the Intravenous infusion. Nursing staffs behaviour and care was good. Blood test was done for Complete blood Count( CBC) and other Heamatocrit values . One sample was drawn for WIDAL test for typhoid. Both the result was normal: WIDL was negative and Heamatocrit values also was normal. The next day they discharged me by giving some antibiotics and the tablets for gastritis. I felt bad as the inpatient admission was unnecessary and they have done the unnecessary blood tests. Unnecessary practices of drawing blood samples and useless admissions cost a fair amount.
Certain Health care settings and the physician are encouraging the unnecessary practices and admissions. They could have avoid this. But most of the profit orientated health care settings are promoting these practices. If they were not admitted me and were giving the good outpatient service, I could spare one day and i could study for the exam. Unnecessary admission and procedures hurt me and my economy.
