Let us start by explaining Transaction Processing. When there is a request to complete a process, the related system coordinates with the concerned system/s to get authorization, additional data if required and any other task that is required to complete the transaction. For example, if there is an online purchase that is to be completed, this transaction would need the authentication of the user, match the delivery address with the delivery terms of the organisation; authenticate the financial instrument being used to make the payment, etc. Once all the information is received, the request gets processed. Thus, depending on the environmental variables, a TPS can accept, reject or halt a transaction.
In the above example, technological intervention is seen when there is a match that is required regarding the financial instrument, zip code matching etc. Human intervention is seen when the transaction requires sorting of goods, checking the same, delivering the package etc.
