Describe the diathesis-stress model. Use it to explain how one identical twin can suffer from clinical depression while the other twin does not.
The Diathesis-stress model explains that the psychological disorders emerge when a diathesis [ biological predisposition to the disorder] is set off by a stressful situation. Three components:-
One twin develops clinical depression and other twins do not.
Both have the same biological predisposition towards developing a disorder, but there is a difference in a stressful event[pathogenic stressors]. One twin might be exposed to a stressful event but another might not be.
