Compare the initial steps in limb regeneration to embryonic limb development. What are the similarities and differences?
limb regeneration- Takes place with in 7-10 weeks in which local cells dedifferentiated into progenitor cells to form a specific cluster known as blastema. These cells of the blastema undergo into further differentiation and growth using the genetic mechanism which are quite similar to the mechanism occurs during embryonic limb development. In regeneration non-myogenic cell further differentiated into some specific fibroblasts of dermis and loose connective tissue.
In embryonic limb development- the cells which helps in limb development are non-myogenic mesodermal cells which get originated from the somatopleure. This mechanism get started in the morphogenetic limb field as mesenchymal cells. These mesodermal cells helps to bulge the ectoderm so that a bud formation takes place. Various factors such as fibroblast growth factor also helps in the formation of an organiser which get formed at the end of limb. Various gene expression mechanism such as Hox, T-box transcription factors, Tbx5 helps in the limb development.
