6. Describe the general tissue structure that makes up the main body membranes. a). Describe the relationship of these tissues in the function and structure of serous and mucous membranes.
Tissue is cells which have the same structure and perform
functions
The four types of Primary Tissues are :
1. Epithelial tissues:
These are those cell groups which are found on the external surface
of body, lining of internal cavity and these tissues often form the
glands in our body.
2. Connective Tissue:
This tissue will function in binding of the organs and cells of the
body
3. Muscle Tissue:
For the movement these tissues contract forcefully
4. Nervous Tissue:
These tissues helps in generation of signal i.e. electrochemical in
the nerve impulse form.
Tissue Membrane: It is defined as layer of cells that are found
on the external surface that is on the outside for example
skin.
Internal lining of body cavity for example peritoneal cavity
Lining of vessel say blood vessel
Sometimes found on the cavity of joints example synovial joint.
Mucous membrane:
It is also called as mucosa
It is involved in lining of the body cavity
They are found located on lining of reproductive tracts,
expiratory, digestive and respiratory tracts
Uniglandular cells produce mucus
Epithelial layer is coated by glandular tissue
Serous Membrane:
This membrane lines up those cavities which that does not line up
the external body surface.
Epithelial cells secrete fluid which will help in membrane
lubrication and the friction is reduced between the organs.
Three serous membranes are found in the lining of thoracic
cavity
Two membrane are found in the lungs covering
One membrane is found in the heart coverings
