VIOLENCE AT WORK

Violence at workplace is a common issue, mostly in female worker. The violence includes any abusive, threatening, intimidating or assaulting conduct. Violence can be in verbal form, physical violence and psychological violence.

1. Individual factors :

This factors are base on individual . It includes gender, relationship, personality, age, solo or night work, responsibility of the work, etc.

In gender, female co workers are more risk to get violence from male co worker. The reason may be feeling of muscularity among the male co worker. The male persons are more aggressive and violence the co worker.

The relationship with the co workers plays an important role in violence. The violence may arise because of jealous, always negative judging of one another, conflict etc.

In most of the working place the person who are having more confidence, good personality usually rule the workplace. It leads to increase ego, attitude among each other and not listening to one another. Most ther person with low confidence use to be try to suppress and violence, blame them for not doing their work is all because of their personality.

Age is also one risk factor for violence, the old age people are more risk to get violence as compare to the young age group. It is all because of becoming weakness in physically and mentally, become more slow in doing there work or to complete the task. The young age group are more aggressive and violence the co workers.

Solo or night work is the also a factor for violence. During night less people are out for work , more isolation in the workplace. This leads to take advantage by any person and try to harm the workers.

2. Environmental factors :

Toxic working environment create a lot of violence in the workplace. In this the leader of the Organization play a important role in creating violence.

The work pressure in the Organization leads to more aggressive to the workers and do harm to other workers. Time of the work, when a person work for a long peroid of time because of more workload also lead to change their behavior to aggressive behaviour.

The leader is not listening to the decision to co-worker, not trusting their work can create a kind of verbal abusive or violence. Highly authoritarian management style cause a feeling of oppression and frustration among the co workers.

3. Social factors:

Changes in the work place, change in management, increase in financial responsibility, restriction in doing work by the society, not maintain respects among one another, dis harmony family relation are some of the factors which increase the anxiety and stress to the workers and have a chance to develop violence and abusive behavior.

4. Cultural factors

Different people from different culture are working together in an Organization. No Organization have rules that the workers should be from same culture. Because of disrespecting or trying to suppress the person coming from minority culture leads to conflicts and violence among them. Racism is also comes under cultural factor.
