What interventions would you recommend to address the challenges at Red Carpet? -
The idea of red carpet runners dates back 458 B.C. to the Greek playwright, Aeschylus and his play Agamemnon, which depicts a Trojan War hero who returns home to find a crimson carpet rolled out for him by his vengeful wife, Clytemnestra. Agamemnon's trepidation is that he is a mortal man knowing that only gods walk on such luxury - "I cannot trample upon these tinted splendors without fear thrown in my path".
Hollywood Showman Sid Grauman grabbed that concept and created the tradition of 'rolling out the red carpet' in 1922 for the Hollywood premier of, Robin Hood staring Douglas Fairbanks. Ever since, Hollywood has set the tone with red carpet events which quickly were adapted by special events such as presidents, dignitaries and popes.
A red carpet is a red carpet. So, what makes is so important or different from event to event? The answer is clear... it's the 'Star': It's the Bride, The Pope, The Award Winner, The Actor, The President, The Dignitary, The Fashion, The Brand. Red Carpet and Red Carpet Runners are meant to support and draw attention to the Star. The "Wow". It's a very old tradition that sees no sign of slowing down.
