True or False
1/Adaptations have a genetic basis
2/ Acclimation does not involve a genetic respond
3/ Plasma is the primary component of the blood because of its oxygen-carrying capacity.
1- True: Adaptation helps a species to survive in a particular harsh habitat. During this process of adaptation the species develop adaptive traits that can be morphological or behavioural traits. This includes genetic variation among the species. Which provides a species flexibility to adapt and this leads to adaptive evolution. This evolution is takes place through some hidden factors called genes. Example: difference in the beak size of Darwin's finches on Galapagos island.
2- True: Acclimation is a kind of slow adjustment against a specific condition. This process can also leads back to former state if the conditions are back to normal. This process does not leave an impression on genetic mechanism. This process involves adjustment to various factor such as temperature , pressure etc. For example if a person living on a plane area goes to a hilly region then the number of red blood cells will be increased in his/her body as to acclimatize low oxygen condition there.
3- False: Plasma is the primary component of blood which is made up of mostly water, proteins, minerals, ions but it transport only 2-3% of Oxygen. 97% of Oxygen transported by RBC ( By haemoglobin)
