Critical thinking in the nursing field is a purposeful as well as , logical process that will results in powerful patient outcomes. A critically thinking nurse has an open mind and will always draws heavily upon the specific evidence-based research as well as past clinical experiences to solve his/ her patient problems.

Critical thinking is a very important as well as an essential.component of nursing and the problem-solving process that has to be oriented by our standards as well as , policies and codes of ethics. It also specifically involves intuition,logics and creativity, which all are equally essential and will become stronger with the knowledge and the clinical experience.

The skills that we need in order to be able to think critically are of different types and it include observation, analysis as well as , interpretation, reflection, evaluation, inference, explanation ( that is the explanation on that idea ) , problem solving, and decision making.

We should have a scientific knowledge base and it is the first component for a clinical decision making. After acquiring a good amount of knowledge base, the nurse can then apply the specific amount of knowledge to different clinical situations using the specific nursing process to gain enough valuable experience.
