Answer :- Berlin Olympic Games during 1936 was more than just worldwide sporting event for hitler . It was his chance to fulfill his nazi propaganda . Despite its exclusionary principles many countries participated in the event. Adolf hitler ( nazi dictator) while hosting Olympics showed his racist, military character. Hitler exploited the foreign spectator and journalists by showing peaceful Germany while his main intension was of territory expansion and showing world the supremacy of pure aryan breed. Nazi used 1936 Olympic for propaganda purpose such as demonstrating world new, strong and United Germany hiding the fact of targeting Jews, roma and growing military power in Germany.

Even people from United States and Europe wanted to boycott 1936 German Olympic because of violation of human rights. But the movement was failed and it set for future Olympic boycott campaign during 2008 and 2014. Almost 49 nations participated in German Olympic. In 1931 international Olympic Committee chose Berlin to hold Olympic event. About two years hitler the nazi party leader became German Chancellor and turned democratic country into dictatorship that harassed Jews, roma and oppostions. Nazi used to control over the life of German people and even extended to sports. Hitler used to show myth about aryan superiority, courage ,bravery. German artist used to make statues of well developed muscle and heroic strength of aryan race , showing physical strength and fit for military services.

During April 1933 aryan only policy was introduced by hitler in sports organisation in Germany. Non aryan race such as Jews, roma were not allowed to take part in sports or be a member in any sports association. Erich Seelig (april 1933) was expelled from German boxing association as he was jewish, he was light heavy weight champion . Then he later restored his career in United States. Daniel prenn ( Jewish) top ranked tennis player was also expelled from German Davis Cup team. Gretel Bergmenn top class high jumper was also removed in 1933 from germany club and also during Germany Olympics in 1936. Jewish athlete joined Jewish association such as maccabee and shield groups but it was not funded proper as Germany clubs were funded. Roma athlete such as sinti boxer johann rukelie trollmann were expelled from Germany sports club. Just to change international opinion and show gesture Germany allowed the star fencer Helene mayer to represent in Berlin Olympic Games. Mayer father was Jewish so she was not pure aryan. She won silver medal in women individual and gave nazi salute at podium. Non other Jewish athlete was allowed to participate in summer olympic.

Total nine who were Jewish won medals in Olympics that includes five Hungarian and mayer. 7 Jewish participated from United States and some from Europe, they were pressurized by Jewish association to boycott the games. Most of the athlete were not knowing nazis true intention of humilating Jews and other race.

Bycott of 1936 Olympic were raised by many countries such as United States, france, Britain, sweden, Netherlands and Czechoslovakia . Debate for boycott in United States was intense but later on sent second largest team after Germany in Berlin Olympics. Even many individual Jewish athletes from different countries decided to boycott German olympics . American Jewish Congress and Jewish labour committee was in favour of boycott movements. Many college president and liberal Catholic politicians also supported boycott for Olympic Games. At the end boycott movement failed even after so many efforts.

German become victorious in Olympics and hold most of the medals . German hospitality and organisation won the heart of the foreign visitors and even praised by them. Newspaper such as new York Times also mentioned Germany olympic games in such good way.
