Nutritional requirements for type 2
diabetes;
- Glycemic control may be achieved by
having food rich in monounsaturated fatty acids
- Food with lesser calories
- Amount of carbohydrates have to be
regulated to 30-45 grams/ meal
- Glucose levels have to be attempted
to be kept at a level which is close to normal.
This can be achieved by :
- Exercise has to be done
regularly
- Beans, grains and starchy
vegetables have to be consumed regularly
- Broccoli, lettuce, spinach, romaine
, carrots have to be consumed,
- Fruits require to be consumed , 2-4
times a day
- Milk has to be consumed 2-3 times a
day
- Protein sources such as meat and
fish has to be consumed
