In the following situations, describe the most appropriate actions or responses to be taken by the Personal Support Worker and explain why this is correct. Your answer should reflect knowledge of effective communication skills, the extent and limitations of your role, and an understanding of the client's total needs. (4 marks each)
1 You are assigned to help Mrs. Jones with her laundry and vacuuming. When you try to do Mrs. Jones' laundry, she tells you you've used too much soap, even though you have used the correct amount according to the package. She also insists you use cold water, even though the clothes can be washed in warm and her detergent is not recommended for use in cold water. When you bring the clothes up from the dryer, she complains that they are not really clean."

In this situation, you be calm and compassionate and provide a stable center. Inform the incidents to managers and get help when the problem is across the line. Don't be impatient and show empathy and respond to them with an act of kindness. Talk with the client in a low tone, talk with family members, and get positive communication with the patient; it changes their negative behavior. Never argue with the patient. Protect yourself from physical and verbal abuse and commit yourself to self-care.
Reasons:
Personal support workers are essential in housekeeping and hygiene assistance, etc. Their communication is vital and should effectively interact with their responsibility and obligations. Effective listening skills make quality service and practical understanding. Patients seek assistants they have many physical and mental disabilities, and they have medication side effects that cause frustration with immobility and cognitive ability. It causes frequent outbursts and causes anger with others.
