1. What should one take into consideration when testing the null hypothesis of the equality of two means using small samples?

2. Explain the concept of p-value ?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1.

To testing the null hypothesis of the equality of two means using small samples we use two sample t test

This test is consist of two type.

Student t test and welch t test.

Student t test assume equal std deviation and welch t test assume std deviation is not equal.

In both case null hypothesis is Two means are same and alternative hypothesis is two means are statistically significant.

2.

In statistics, the p-value is the probability of obtaining results as extreme as the observed results of a statistical hypothesis test, assuming that the null hypothesis is correct. A smaller p-value means that there is stronger evidence in favor of the alternative hypothesis.

P value is nothing but the minimum level of significance.

Simply, p value is the probability that null hypothesis is true.
