For this assignment, you will complete a 15-30 minute session of any type of massage or acupressure. You will need to either 1) practice self-massage techniques from Exercise 19.1 of the book OR 2) get any type of professional massage or acupressure to complete your session. This practice is designed to help you with your physical practice at managing stress. This should be for a minimum of 15-30 minutes (you can practice this technique for longer and more than once if you would like). This time is not meant as added stress, but as practice to determine which techniques may work best for you.
When you have finished your session please complete the following:
A description of the activity (15-20 sentences about how you completed the activity): What did you do? (Be specific - You will need to include some names or descriptions of the process that you completed.) How did the activity make you feel physically? (Was it difficult, easy, etc.?)
After you complete your practice of this technique, please reflect on the experience with a minimum of 2-3 sentences for each response. Answer the following statements for each technique:
1. Describe any recurring thoughts you had during your practice of ______________:
2. Describe any difficulties you experienced during your practice of _____________:
3. Do you think this technique will help you manage and/or reduce your stress levels? Why or why not?
