Following are the importance of interview from interviewer stand point
1. Help to gain knowledge of candidate skills: Since the candidate is hired by the company in consideration of salary. Therefore company want to select the best person who has deep knowledge of communication and presentation skills. Interview help the company to get about this knowledge.
2. Subject knowledge assessment: By taking the interview, company get the idea about the subject knowledge for which candidate is hiring. Thus it helps the company to best selection from the given list of candidates.
3. Salary and negotiation: Interview also help to clarify to both parties how much company is agreeing to pay in consideration of his service. It also clarify other terms like notice period, hike in salary candidates are expecting etc.
