Timmy, a second-grader, wasn’t feeling like himself. A month ago his best friend moved to another city, leaving Timmy feeling sad, miserable, and with no one to play with in his free time. His mom and dad were worried because he was no longer interested in kite-flying, something he had really enjoyed for a long time. Timmy also tried to make excuses for why he should stay home from school. Sometimes Timmy wouldn’t go to sleep at night, and he wasn’t interested in eating any of his favorite foods. His parents worried about how sad he always seemed. After a month of worry, his parents decided to take Timmy to a family counselor.
How do you think the counselor will help Timmy?
First of all a good rapport will be made by the counselor with Timmy . The the following ways to make timmy understand about the situation will be made
1. Understand the reality and be at present : Being at present and understanding the reality can be very much for timmy as it would help him to be realistic and be more aware of the situations of the life. Being at present is another solution which can be used to help timmy and make him understand accept the reality of his best friend moving into another city.
2. To enjoy your own company : Timmy would be suggested to enjoy his own company and make use of the enjoyable opportunites to spend time with family and social gatherings to engage oneself and to enjoy your company .
3. To engage in favourite acts : To engage in to various liked acts so that it would help timmy to be more reality oriented and help him to forget the sorrow and worry. It can help him give an insight that one's own company can be enjoyable as well .
4. To be emotionally stable: This can be very much helpful for timmy as being emotional stable can make him understand the situations and be firm and well efficient of dealing stressful situations . Not to get carried away by such incidents and to be hopeful to create more good friends and be positive.
