29. Which of the following reasons explains why it is important for new scientific findings to be published?

a. Scientists will get paid if their findings are published

b. Other scientists can validate or disprove the findings

c. Publishing findings will help scientists become more biased

d. This prevent other scientists from performing similar test.

Solutions

Expert Solution

b

By publishing the scientific results one can validate with already known indices and that result will act as proof to disprove the old study and also helps to know the type of error that was committed by old study.

-mainly errors are of two types

TYPE 1 error/alpha error-it means rejecting the null hypothesis when it is actually TRUE.alpha error have stastical significance.

TYPE 2 error/beta error-it means failing to reject null hypothesis when it is actually FALSE.It is more dangerous than type 1 error because we are promoting the wrong result in to market without rejecting it.

When some one publishing results we can predict and conclude the type of error that was committed by old studies,if old studies was failed .

example-old study reagrding oral health said dental caries was more prominent among High class people because of more consumption of refined carbohydrates, junk foods and sugar was more in luxiorous class.

BUT new study says poor oral health is predominant in backward class people because of poor oral hygiene mainainence, unable to afford for dental treatment.

By publishing the results one can upgrade to updated medicines, systems, values etc.

Which statement explains why the theory of orbital hybridization is important to our understanding of chemical bonding?   1-Hybridization provides a theory in which orbitals are not localized on specific atoms.   2-Lewis structures do not depict hybridization, so another theory was required.   3-There are not enough atomic orbitals to explain experimentally observed molecular shapes.   4-Use of atomic orbitals to describe bonding in some molecules does not result in the experimentally observed bond angles.
