What are the use of CFAS, LABS, STPP, sodium Sulfate and Sodium Carbonate in making detergent?...

What are the use of CFAS, LABS, STPP, sodium Sulfate and Sodium Carbonate in making detergent? Increasing in amount of which one will make the detergent better in terms of the quality? Which one make the detergent soft when use?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) use as a water softener.

2) LABS - Linear alkyl benzene sulfonate, a salt of a linear alkylbenzenesulfonic acid (LABSA), used as an anionic   surfactant:

for example, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate

3) Sodium sulfate - The largest use is as filler in powdered home laundry detergents, consuming approx. 50% of world production. This use is waning as domestic consumers are increasingly switching to compact or liquid detergents that do not include sodium sulfate.

4) STPP - Sodium Tripolyphosphate is used as widely used for industrial purposes, and its technical grade versions are commonly found in laundry and dishwashing detergents, amongst other cleaning agents. In addition, Sodium Tripolyphosphate is also used in ceramics manufacturing and as a sequestriant in water treatment processes.

5) CFAS : it is   Zeolite - Water softener

CFAS , and Na2CO3 can act as water softners and STPP will make detegent better
