Give a summary of some of the main ways in which complexity manifests
itself in physiological systems.

Complexity manifests the physiological system in majorly two ways that is the number of components and the other is the interconnectivity or interrelation.
In a physiological system if the number of components are greater in number the activity of the system will be too advanced. If we take about the digestive system the increase in number of components than an insect makes the digestive system of man more efficient. As the number of components increases there will be self assigned duties to each component and that will lead to more efficient physiological system. Next is the interconnectivity. In a physiological is said to be efficient working only when the individual components are interlinked or interconnected . If we take neural system as an example the duty of it is transmit messages to the effector regions. If the individual neurons are not interlinked this function wouldn't have happened. In digestive system if the stomach is not connected to small intestine the digestion should never happen. So the complexity can be manifested in many ways.
