Explain the the role of the the New York State Government and the agencies that make up his cabinet.
The New York state government has its headquarter in Albany. It is made up of 3 branches - executive,legislative and judicial.
Executive Branch- This branch is headed by the governor, who is elected for a term of four years. He is required by the constitution to submit a yearly State budget to the legislature. This branch is controlled by a strong governor, with certains powers over appointments and budgets.
Legislative Branch- It is the law making branch of the state government. It is the two house body composed of the Senate and the Assembly. The legislature ,through its varied functions keeps a check on the executive authority of the governor. It ensures that the best interest of the citizens are legislatively represented.
Judicial Branch- The state Constitution defines the organization and jurisdiction of New York State's unified court system. This branch serves as the enforcement body for the bills that are passed by the legislature and signed into law by governor.
Agencies-
There are 100 agencies that sum up the cabinet of New York state government. These agencies mainly are parts of the administration, business ,education, health and human services, local and regional authorities, public safety, recreation and environment, statewide elected officials, transport and utilities. The agencies look after their owwn respective fields. They help in policy formulation. Also helps in making decisions. They often take strategic measures and steps in making decisions.
