Medical ethics are rules or principles that are to be followed by clinicians, doctors, and researchers during their treatment or research to solve moral issues or arguments In daily practice between doctors and patients.
It mainly focuses on the issues of patients, society, and colleagues regarding the conduct od research methodology.
Medical ethics has 5 basic principles as follows:-
AUTONOMY
The patient has freedom of thought and action. he/ she can decide which medical procedure to follow.
BENEFICIENCE
the welfare of the patient should be the first consideration.
CONFIDENTIALITY
the personal & medical information of the patient should be kept confidential.
DO NO HARM / NON-MALIFICENCE
it should be ensured that the procedure makes no harm to the patient or society.
EQUITY/ JUSTICE
Giving justice to the study and patients related to it should be the first priority of the medical practitioner.
Medical Ethics are closely related to law as one has to adhere to the human rights to conduct any study related to medical technology-related issues.
Although, ethics are not permanent as they change with time and belief.i.e an ethic followed before 10 tens may not be applicable today.
For eg, The Hippocratic oath, declaration of Geneva, Helsinki declaration, etc
