2. How do you feel about documentary and non-documentary films? Is there one genre you prefer more than the other or do you like them equally? Why? What do you feel are some of the similarities and differences between documentary and non-documentary films?
In your answer you can mention some specific documentary films you have seen or are familiar with
1. I prefer reading books over watching movies, as reading takes the reader to a whole new world of imagination and mental visualization which he can enjoy uninterrupted.
I enjoy the experience of reading a book over watching a movie. Reading is a more detailed and deep version of story telling while watching a movie is a small time engagement.
For e.g. books by Dan Brown, like Da Vinci code and Harry Potter series are more detailed in their approach to engage the reader, rather than a movie, which is more like a summary of the book.
2. Documentary films are non fictional films which aim to show reality of things which happened in the past or happen in real life.
Non documentary films are purely fictional piece of work.
I feel documentary films are more realistic and thus preferred over non documentary films. The viewer feels more connected to a movie when he realises it is based on a true event.
Non documentary films are full of fiction and sometimes get away too far from real life concepts.
Similarities: Full of drama and emotions, altered to meet viewer preferences
Differences: Documentary are reality based films while the other are purely fictional
E.g. of documentary film: The Clinton Affair, which talks about the Bill Clinton scandal
