Explain what you understand from 'Ohm's law'. In about 50 words, explain practical consequences of Ohm's law, with examples from real life, as needed.
Ohm's law is given as
V = IR
It means current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the voltage across the two points. Ohm’s law helps us in determining voltage, current or resistance of an electric circuit when the other two quantities are known.
Practicality of Ohm's law
1) Look at the ceiling fan - we can control the speed of the fan by rotating the speed control knob. So, what's happening behind the scenes ?? Here, the current flowing through the fan is controlled by regulating the resistance through the regulator. so, more the resistance, less the current
2) Fuse devices - You might have seen those tube like small transparent device found usually on the back of every appliance. Those are called fuse. They are protection components that limit the amount of current flowing through the circuit and to establish a certain amount of voltage. They also work on the basis of Ohm's law
