Is the interval [-4, 7) open, closed, half–open, or unbounded?
Given interval [-4,7) is HALF-OPEN interval
Explanation: we say interval is OPEN if both the ends are open, that is , if it is of the form (-4,7). Here neither -4 nor 7 is included in this interval but all the real values between -4 and 7 are included.
We sat interval is CLOSED if both the ends are closed, that is , if it is of the form [-4,7]. Here all the numbers between-4 and 7 are included including end points that is -4 and 7.
We say interval is HALF-OPEN if only one end is open, it is of the for [-4,7) {here -4 is included but 7 is not included} or (-4,7] { here -4 is not included but 7 is included}.
We say interval is UNBOUNDED if it is has or in the end points of the interval.
So our given interval [-4,7) is going to be HALF-OPEN interval.
