Importance of obtaining the height and weight of all patients:

It very important to check patient's body weight and hight due to following reasons.

  1. To know body mass index (whether the patient is over weight or under weight or ideal weight (healthy range))
  2. To give proper nutrition and diet plan to make sure maintaining body weight with recommended diet.
  3. To calculate the dosage of medication.

Reasons for obtaining height and weight of pediatric patients:

In children, diet intake or nutrition that they are taking directly related with their immunity, resitance towards illness or diseases. So, hight and weight checks are necessary to know whether they are having ideal body weight or not. We can also analyse malnutrion and provide proper diet plans for healthy growth. These measurements are very crucial parameters for analysing child's growth. Most importantly, for dosage of medication entirely based on body weight.

Reasons for obtaining height and weight of oncology patients:

  1. To calculate the right medical dose for the respective weight.
  2. To know the appropriate level of chemotherapy treatment.
