Two Cube question

Two cubes each of volume 27 cm^3 are joined together end to end.Find the surface area of the resulting cuboid.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Every side of the cube is same.

Let 'a' is the each side of the cube.

Then a^3 = 27 cm^3

a^3 =3^3 cm^3

a =3 cm that means

length=breadth=height=3cm

When two cube of eqaul volumes are joined end to end then a cuboid is formed

Then length of resultant cuboid is a+a=3+3=6 cm

Breadth =3 cm

Height =3 cm

Then surface area of resultant cuboid.

=2(lb+bh+hl)

=2(6×3+3×3+3×6)

2(18+09+18)

2(45)

=90 cm^2

Hence the surface area of resultant cuboid is 90cm^2

Problem Page Question A number cube is rolled three times. An outcome is represented by a string of the sort OEE (meaning an odd number on the first roll, an even number on the second roll, and an even number on the third roll). The 8 outcomes are listed in the table below. Note that each outcome has the same probability. For each of the three events in the table, check the outcome(s) that are contained in the event.
