You are attempting to determine whether two birds are members of the same species or not.
A. Using the morphospecies concept, what is a line of evidence that would support that the two birds are members of the same species?
B.Using the biological species concept, what is a line of evidence that would support that the two birds are members of the same species?
A. The morphospecies concept or the morphological concept uses the morphological character to distinguish the species. Here the line of evidence that would support that the two birds are members of the same species are the moorphological charaters and the unity within the species determine by factors other than reproduction due to some reproductive barrier. The species are characterised by their body shape and structural feature. So, based on the apperance whether the two species of bird are morphological same, they canbe categorised into the same species
B. The biological species concept says species in a group of population in nature who can interbreed to produce viable and fertile offspring but not produce fertie offspring with other species of different population. So, the line of evidence according to biological species concept that would support that the two birds are members of the same species are restricted to reproduction within species. So, if two species of bird are mating to produce fertile offspring they are thought to belong from the same species.
