The cell membrane functions are as
below:
- They help to keep toxic substances
away and out from the cell.
- The cell membrane function in
transport of specific molecules such as ions, nutrients, wastes,
and metabolic products between organelles as well as between the
cell and the outside environment as they possess receptors and
channels.
- The cell membrane functions to
separate the organelles from each other as well as the metabolic
processes that are conducted within organelles.
The functions of plasma membrane are
as below:
- Plasma membrane function in
transportation of specific molecules in and out of the cell.
- Form structural barrier between the
internal contents and external enviroment.
- Plasma membranes in plants contain
receptor proteins that help to receive signals from the environment
as well as from plant hormones that direct plant growth and
division.
- In plants, the plasma membrane
plays an important role in cellulose synthesis as it is the site
for cellulose synthesis.
