Which of the following statements describes Data most accurately in its relationship to Information and Knowledge?
Data is highly personal to the source |
||
Data is hard to capture electronically |
||
Data has less human contribution |
||
Data has greater value |
Ans a) Data is highly personal to the source
When we refer to data, it is mostly associated to the source. For example: consider a hospital. It keeps records of all the patients that come and go. This is data and the hospital has to keep it secure so that not everyone has access to it. Amazon, Google and others collect your data and in turn give you better recommendations for what product you may be looking to buy and what videos you might like on YouTube. Here you are the source and the data is highly personal to you as it contains information and knowledge about you.
Why the others aren't as accurate?
"Data is hard to capture electronically" well this statement is pretty vague. Consider yourself transmitting data on an open channel, then it can be captured pretty easily. Networks can only be formed when you have the ability to capture data.
Note: if this statement meant acquiring instead of capturing, then also it wouldn't have been so accurate. One simple example of acquiring data would be online surveys.
"Data has less human contribution" well I think this statement is just wrong. Data has a lot of interaction with humans, in fact it is humans who have been supplying almost all the data. Humans can easily make sense of data.
"Data has greater value" this is very vague again. What is it being compared to? How is this statement related to information and knowledge it contains?
