I'm writing a report about producing vinyl acetate by reacting ethylene, acetic acid and oxygen to produce vinyl acetate and water.
I want to write about the hazards of the chemical used but not for each one, only the major hazards such as toxicity and flammability, help me
Major hazards associated with
Ethylene : Ethylene is highly flammable and reactive chemical. It can cause a Danferous Fire and explosion hazard.
Ethylene gas can affect you when breathed in. Skin contact with liquid ethylene can cause frostbite. Exposure to Ethylene can cause headache, dizziness, fatigue, light headedness.
Acetic acid: the liquid is highly corrosive to skin and eyes and need to be handled with care. Acetylene can cause damaged to internal organs if ingested or in case of vapor inhalation
It is flammable and above 390C explosive vapors can be formed.
Vinyl acetate: it is Highly flammable and can cause explosion vapor.
Inhalation of Vinyl acetate can cause sore throat, shotness of breath. Ingestion may cause drowsiness and headache.
Exposure of skin to vinyl acetate forms blisters and exposure to eyes can cause pain and redness.
