Conduct an assessment of the health care environment where you work (i.e. health department, long-term care facility, specialty clinic, inpatient hospital, etc). Specifically, examine potential barriers that may exist for a member of a minority group that has a significant presence in your community (i.e. Native American, Cubans, Hmong). Using the criteria below (and explained in greater detail on pages 39 and 40), assess the potential organizational barriers to care in your work environment. Explore ways to decrease barriers to health care for this minority group so that your organization can strive for cultural competency.

Potential barrier occured in three different levels:-
Patient level, provider level and system level..
? -Patient level were related to the patient charecterictics that
demographic variables,health benefits and attitudes,personal
enability resources,community enabling resources,perceived illness
and personal health practices..
-Provider level were related to the provider
charecteristics skills and attitudes
? -System level were related to system charecteristics is
organization of the health care system..
?The goal of raising awarenwss about the potential barriers..so
that the problem of barriers to health care for different ethnic
minorities becomes transparent..the barriers are all tied to the
particular situation of the individual patient and subject to
constant adjustment..
? Significantly,a lack of awareness about clinical trial enrollment
is reflected in response among all groups..Health care
professionals must routinely inform patients that there is no
enrollment without consent unless this incorrect understanding is
solved it could undercut advances in understanding of trust in
clinical trial participation..but all minority groups agree, that
health care professionals should discuss clinical trials with
patients diagnosed with a diseases as part of their standard of
care..There should be directions to the food and drug
administrations to evaluate and address the inclusion of minority
and other demgraphic subgroups in clinical trials..

challenges, health care services should ensure culturally
appropriate health care for every ethnic minority patient..
