Customer pet peeves about customer service. What are yours? Food not prepared properly at a restaurant? You need to return clothing or something else? A purchase you made didn’t work properly, or you couldn’t figure out how to make it work from the directions given? You need help in a store and can’t find anyone? Or, you may choose a pet-peeve specific to you. Tell us why it bothers you; and how you handle the situation with the person you need to talk with about your complaint? You are encouraged to share an experience with us.
A purchase I made not working properly is my pet peeve as a customer. This is because I like to buy innovative and new products which promise to perform daily tasks easily. Like a device that helps in removing corn out of the cob or a watermelon slicer which directly cuts slices of a watermelon etc.
While some of these devices work in a great way and are like little treasures, some of them fail to perform even the most basic of the intensive tasks which are advertised by the marketer.
For example, I bought a watermelon slicer which was marketed as cutting easy slices from a watermelon. I used it on a medium-sized watermelon but the blade broke before even entering a quarter of the watermelon. The product was an absolute failure and I hate to waste my money on such products.
I went to the store from where I bought it and showed the broken blade of the slicer to the salesperson. While he was sympathetic, he told me that a purchase like this rarely comes with any type of guarantee so I should buy them with my own discretion. In other words, neither he would exchange the product nor would give me my money back.
I learned my lesson.
