Discuss the rationale behind airport drainage. Problems that might arise through poor drainage and the legislation that includes airports.
Let me discuss the rationale behind airport drainage, here, airport drainage operations should be done that can drain off the surface of water from various area of airport, further, it collect such water in a container and make the surface area dry. It also creates a system so water can flow by gravity and reach nearby river or pond. Airport system uses side gutter where surface water can easily fall within and such system could be good effective in this scenario. Moreover, issues could be like heavy rain fall or snowfall over the track and pavement. Such water and ice should be clearly removed otherwise it will make big problem during landing and takeoff operations of flight.
Following are the problems that can be arisen through poor drainage, these are as stated below:
There is advisory circular with the number 150/5320-5D that depicts guidelines about Airport drainage design and construction, it is recommended by Federal Aviation Administration, US department of transportation. However, this data is not for regulatory purpose.
