Allison Martin, a 20-year-old freshman college student, is a paraplegic after a skiing accident that happened when she was 15 years old. She also has dyslexia, not related to the accident. She meets weekly with staff at the office for disability on campus to address her educational needs and accommodations. She is comfortable with her learning support counselor, Jane Logan. Allison shares with Jane that she is concerned about her female health issues, especially now that she is a college student living away from home. Jane refers Allison to the student health center

Answer:
Allison 20-year-old is a paraplegic and also has dyslexia. Allison also has a concern about her female health issues. So, what concerns me about Allison is also her health issues related to Sexual and reproductive health problems.
Sexual and reproductive health problems are responsible for one third of health issues for women between the ages of 15 and 44 years. Allison might face such challenges. Otherwise Allisons mental health status concerns me secondly.

Yes, Allison has not mention specifically about her concern for female health issues.Health issues can be of any type related to gynaecology or mental health issues,or other type of disorders.

· Keep in mind that the personal space of a person with a disability includes the person’s wheelchair, scooter, crutches, walker, cane, or other mobility aid.
· Do not push or move a person’s wheelchair or grab a person’s arm to provide assistance without asking first.
· When speaking to a person seated in a wheelchair, sit so that you and the person are at the same eye level.
· When giving directions to people with mobility limitations, consider distance, weather conditions, and physical obstacles such as stairs, curbs, and steep hills.
· Shake hands when introduced to a person with a disability. People who have limited hand use or who are paraplegic do shake hands.
· Talk to persons with disabilities in the same way and with a normal tone of voice (not shouting) as you would talk to anyone else.
4. What are the legal dimensions of providing a barrier-free environment for Allison?
Barrier Free Environment is one which enables people with disabilities to move about safely and freely and to use the facilities within the built environment. Barrier free environment continues to remain a distant dream for thousands of physically challenged students despite communications, rules and guidelines framed from time to time.
Barrier-free environment for disabled students should include ramp, lift and washroom facilities to accommodate wheel chairs, the court specifically said. Adequate space for persons using mobility devices. Adequate space should be allocated for persons using mobility devices, e.g. wheelchairs, crutches and walkers, as well as those walking with the assistance of other persons. The range of reach(forward and side; with or without obstruction) of a person in a wheelchair should be taken into consideration. Attention should be given to dimensions of wheelchairs used locally. Wheel chair are made in a standard size.
