Psychology is the scientific study of human mind and behavior. It studies how the mind affects the emotions and behavior of the individual. Psychology studies behavior from various angles such as through the psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive and humanistic perspective. The biological perspective looks at how the bodily functions , nervous system, emotions and genetic makeup influence an individual’s moods, emotions and how it shapes their behavior. The psychodynamic approach studies how the unconscious mind that is primarily driven by sex and impulses influence one’s behavior. The psychodynamic approach is promoted by Freud. The behavioral approach looks into how the environment; interactions with others shape our behavior. Cognitive approach looks into how emotions and expectations influence behavior. The humanistic approach looks into how an individual can reach their potential and focuses on self-empowerment.
