Below is a short list provided by DuPont of common ethical issues in the workplace. Choose at least three issues and explain what would be a “wrong” expression of that scenario and solve it with a “right” way to solve that scenario.

For example: Mercedes claimed her hair appointment as a company expense. A “wrong” way to handle the situation would be to approve the expense and not confront the employee on the unrelated business expense. A “right” way to solve the issue would be to meet with Mercedes one-on-one to hear her reasoning in qualifying it as an expense. If the expense did not pertain to her work duties, then politely explaining how hair appointments are not considered business-related expenses and she will not be reimbursed for the expense.

Expense reports- As Mike forged expense report of some of his expenses in his organisation's report stated that it's for the company such as fuel expenses. A ”wrong” way would be that if the company approves his request without asking the actual expenses made for the organization’s benefit. A ”right” way include his explanation to the company about his fuel consumption and if the organisation found out it incorrect they would politely say that if you have no proof to prove that these expenses are for the organisation then we won't reimburse you for the expenses made here.

Harassment- As Robert sexually harassed her colleague Layla saying that he can promote her, on the other hand, Robert cannot give promote Layla as Layla is new to the job so she is unaware of that situation. A ”wrong” way is that if Layla doesn't report it to HR departments and continues to get harassed as she is unaware of the ethics in her new job. A ”right” way includes his written mail to the organization including HR and boss of the company by providing the statement etc. And tell the concerning people to warn him to stay away and apologize to her and never do these mistakes with someone else in future if the same occurs he will be blacklisted.

Misuse of company assets- As Kimberly joined the car rental service and using the company's car for her personal use such as going out with friends and family members in the company's car. A ”wrong” way is that if the bosses of the rental chain unsee it as it just doesn't matter for them. A ”right” way would include in meeting with Kimberly the bosses tell them to use the car but politely say that you have to bear the expense on your own such as fuel, maintenance and any accident happened etc. If yes you can drive otherwise you are not allowed to do the same without permission.
